John
8: 31 To
the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If
you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then
you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Jesus talked a lot about remaining or abiding in him. Abiding speaks of the unbroken
relationship and intimate fellowship we have with Christ when
we become his disciples. The Holy Spirit fills us to overflowing.
Returning
regularly to God's Word is one profound way we abide in him. Prayer and worship
also strengthen that bond. Amazingly, as we abide in him, Christ abides in us. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy
Spirit come and make their dwelling place within us.
Are
you at home in Christ? Is he at home in you? Remember, on this earth we'll only
scratch the surface of an eternal relationship of abiding in Jesus.
