The Principal of the Path

Proverb 7:6-27
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement, and beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding, passing through the street near her corner: and he went the way to her house .  6-8
Her house is the way (path) to hell, going down to the chambers of death. Verse 27.
Just as every road like every road is linked to a specific destination place so also every path leads to a destination.

A path is a way or track that is built and it leads to a particular destination.
The path we take in life has no regards for the way we feel, it will lead us to where it leads irrespective of whether it is what we anticipate or not
In our text in Proverbs 7: Solomon the writer of the book of proverbs gave us a first- hand insight regarding the principle of the path.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: While there are a lot of paths you need just one path to take you to your desired and God ordained destination. Shalom

Start Asking God

Pride is a funny thing. Women joke that men will drive around lost for an hour rather than stop and ask directions. We're that way in the rest of our life as well. God, the source of all wisdom, is eager to give us the direction we need, yet we'll take one dead end after another rather than ask Him for help.

"In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God." - Psalm 10:4

Jesus was different from us. He constantly sought his Father's leading. His character was flawless, free from the pride we display. Instead of trying to make it on His own, He depended heavily on the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Sadly, we men are also slow learners. It's hard for us to overcome our pride and our need for independence. So, how do we get into the habit of asking God for help, not just in big things, but every single day?

First, we remember what Christ has already done for us. He saved us from our sins, something we could never do on our own.

Second, every man has enough failures in his past to remind him that going it alone simply hasn't worked. We shouldn't be embarrassed by our failures; we should be embarrassed because we were too arrogant to accept God's help.

Good news: there's hope for every one of us. We can live the life we've always dreamed of. Pride is a sin we can overcome, and we start by asking God for help. He's always there, just waiting for us to ask.

Serve First

When was the last time you volunteered to do something in service to another person? If you’re a mother, you’ve probably done something selfless already to serve your child or children today. If you’re a wife, chances are you can remember the last time you served your husband without him asking. But if you’re a single girl in your first job, scraping together a living and trying to make ends meet, it’s possible that it’s been a while. Most of us know we should serve others, but we don’t really know how. Talking about serving is a lot easier than actually doing it.

Jesus served throughout his ministry. When he served others, the act often involved self-sacrifice. Ultimately, he sacrificed his life for our sins. When we serve others, especially those who have no way of repaying us, we imitate Jesus. We represent Christ to those we serve. Kenneth Leech wrote, “Christian spirituality is the spirituality of the Poor Man of Nazareth who took upon himself the form of a servant. To follow the way of the kingdom is therefore to follow him who fed the hungry, healed the sick, befriended the outcast, and blessed the peacemakers.”

Even with Jesus living and serving right in front of them, the disciples didn’t seem to get it. They wondered how they could be great. But Jesus answered, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all” (Mark 10:43–44).

That’s the paradox of serving. When we give ourselves away in service, we find ourselves. When we empty ourselves in service, we find fulfillment.

A lot of people search for identity and self-fulfillment. Most look for it in repeated highs of promotions, exotic vacations or an endless parade of worldly possessions. But real fulfillment comes from serving God by serving others. When we give ourselves away in service to others, we find meaning and joy in life that selfishness can never equal

Take Away
  • What opportunities do you have to serve others—even people who can’t ever repay you?
  • What small and practical acts of service can you do at work or in your neighborhood to serve others?
  • What steps can you take to cultivate a selfless and humble heart of service?

Desires In The Place Of Prayer.

Therefore I say unto you, whatsoever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. Mark 11:24

The word desire speaks of expectations,  it speaks of hope. It is not a bad thing to desire something especially in the place of prayer. The reality is, praying without desiring what you re praying about is praying amiss , and this can keep you in a place of prayer for a  very long time. It could also get you to a place of repeating words before God.

Our desire in a place of prayer gets God's attention quicker than our eloquence.

Often times it is  hard for us to put our desires in words before God, that's when we re expected to pray in tongues while we allow the Holy Spirit to lay hold of our desires and present it before God the Father in a clearer language. Its not the will of God to take forever to have our prayers anwsered, its also not the will of God for us to spend a whole day praying and waiting  for one thing while there are people out there waiting to encouter God through us. Jesus was never found praying while He was suppose to be attending to the needs of the people around Him, not because He never loved to spend time in prayer, but because He never went to pray without a desire.  God knows our hearts, He knows what we need , but  He wants to get it through to us through our desire.

What soever you desire when you pray!
I have come to realize that desires that well up inside of us while we pray is always from God, because I don't believe the devil is present while I pray. I dont know about you, but one person I do not expect when I pray is the devil.

Friends when you pray forget that the devil exist and go before your Father with heart full of desires and you will be amazed how quickly your prayers will be answered.  Proverbs 23:18

Shalom!
